Children suffering serious tooth decay – recent Queensland health report

It doesn’t have to be like this –

Queensland Health has just released a report with a very worrying rising statistic. Children’s dental health is suffering serious tooth decay – in the report a study was conducted with 130,000 children aged between 5 and 15 years old, the worrying statistic was that more than half the children had a history of tooth decay and 1 in 4 had tooth decay in at least four of their teeth.

But, it doesn’t have to be like this –

Modern treatments and regular trips to a dentist will help reduce statistics such as these and with a high proportion of families eligible for FREE dental through the CDBS they don’t have to worry over treatment costs either.

Getting children educated about oral hygiene is a must and at 1300SMILES we recommend bringing your children in to see us at around 2 years of age. Even if they don’t get treatment it’s important to let them experience going to the dentist and what happens during a visit. All our dentists are happy to see young patients and even let them try the treatment chair, the more they get used to going to a dentist the better their oral health will be for the future.
